Disability Impact Training

What is it?
Working through difficulties and enforcing a change in behaviour and attitude, to bring a more positive perspective, is the goal of DIT sessions. These 90-minute intense one-to-one solutions forced sessions to aim to help the client to understand their capacity at work, their internal strength and resilience, and the wider impact of working with a disability or health condition. Developing this through an understanding of their condition and its impact will help the client to more accurately create and engage with strategies to aid themselves at work building a positive mentality and evaluating their difficulties in a new light, enabling clients to adjust in the workplace.
For many people who have been diagnosed with a disability, there is often the fear of a change in lifestyle or wellbeing due to the nature of their condition. This can be because of the feeling of ‘sticky labels’, where someone worries about being defined as their impairments. DIT, or Disability Impact Training, aims to challenge these thoughts and perceptions and provide a strong base for mental health resilience, acting as a foundation from which the client can then progress.
Disability Impact Training supports the individual to self-manage their disability at work. This is especially beneficial for those who have recently become disabled (or been diagnosed), those who have multiple or comorbid conditions, and those who have a chronic or fluctuating illness.
Sessions could cover:
- Neurodiverities (Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, ADHD and Autism – either individually or together)
- Mental Health
- Vision Loss
- Hearing Loss
- Neurological Conditions (e.e. Multiple Sclerosis, Strokes, Epilepsy and TBI/ABI)
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME), Fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Fanlos Syndrome
- Ergonomic Pain, Fatigue and Mobility
